Dear Colleagues,

This set allows the effects of drawing and writing to be reached with instruments filled with ink. I created it during two years-long work on an illustrative series for the dilogy book "Anisotropic Highway" and the number of ink-like inner spread illustrations for "Analog" Science Fiction magazine.

This Brush Set is designed for Adobe Photoshop, but it may also be used in Photoshop Elements and Adobe Fresco.

Working on those aforesaid graphic art pieces, I intended to reach the effect of drawing and writing with a nib and ruling pen, various brushes, and a homemade pen (also known as cola pen).

This Professional pack consists of 17 main brushes for blackletter calligraphy. Most of them are simulating the classic wide dip nib, flat brush and Molotow marker. Initially I wanted to create a single touch-up brush to design elegant ornaments on your blackletter calligraphy but step by step I developed this single brush into several different brushes based on pointed nib featuring single and double stroke, They are perfect complementary to your Gothic lettering but they could be successfully used as separate brushes for pointed nib calligraphy (incl. roundhand/copperplate). The blackletter brushes feature different level of texture effect and different styles. All are set to their maximum size and could be used freely in large images. I personally prefer to use more pressure on my Ipad Pro to get better and more organic effect. The blending mode is set to LINEAR BURN in procreate and you could easily change it according to your needs. As you know, there's a number of basic shading technics in painting and drawing, and I like this one as the most appropriate for me — I find it one of the most rational by painting the fur — to start coloring with a neutral, halftone local color, then shade it according to the volume and lighting. Usually, this underpainting should be darker than fur, as it would be in the shadow. So then add layers above to add the fur. All the brushes have a minor color and lightness jitter to make the fur more realistic.

• So, try at first to place basic shading with a simple brush you prefer to paint usually, hard or soft, and then put the fur strands above, according to the form and lighting.

• After it's may be needed to make some areas deeper (darker) — for example, shaded areas deeply among strands near their roots — or set some light and highlight accents in the lights.

• You can experiment also with layer' and brush blending modes, such as Soft Light, Screen, Multiply, etc.

• As in painting or drawing at all, I'd recommend proceeding from common, main shapes to partial ones and details: firstly, specify the main big volume, lights and darks, then put non-detailed fur strands using matching brushes, and then make the detailing with detailed fur brushes.

• In the end, I'd add some the sharpest strands or hairs, maybe blur or darken some of the underlying strands, light up some of most visible, highlighted. Try to make some of them softer of sharper, darker or lighter in the finish or work, kind of post-processing. Add some highlights, specular. The separated hair can be drawn by regular textured thin brushes.

Time flies faster and requires a better result, in the least amount of time. This also refers to calligraphy. By now, I make 90% of the work in Photoshop. Classical calligraphy is still my favorite occupation, but it is outdated in relation to my tasks and work process. How to use Torn Paper Brushes: Select any brush from Torn Paper Brushes and begin to draw in any color you want desired shape. Shape will come already having deckle edges, you do not need to use erasers to reach this effect.

How to use Torn Paper Erasers: Upload any texture (photo, drawing, etc) you want to tear off =), or just create new layer and set desirable color. This is a set of 40 realistic cloud brushes (20x single cloud brushes and 20x scattered cloud brushes). These brushes are based on real photos of clouds - so you can't get more realistic than this. Change your brushes and adjust the size and opacity to create an unlimited amount of cloud combinations.

The set comes with 1x ABR files. The scattered clouds are pressure sensitive which means, if you have a graphics tablet, you will be able to choose the pressure you want to add to the clouds onto your project.

HOW TO INSTALL PHOTOSHOP BRUSHES

You can either drag the ABR file directly into your Photoshop window, or you can go under Edit Presets Preset Manager, select Brushes from the drop-down menu, and then add your brushes using the "Load" button.
